Jihad Wright, 28, an Elizabeth resident, was arrested there by Hillside police and charged with robbery and kidnapping. Wright was charged with kidnapping for allegedly detaining a bank teller in the course of the robbery and trying to take his vehicle.
Wright, was being held at the Union County jail pending a bail hearing, may also face federal charges.
Authorities say a man in a mask and wearing a construction helmet entered Investors Savings Bank and threatened to blow it up. He made off with about $4,000.

Our officers and detectives maintain a high level of proficiency and professionalism in carrying out their law enforcement duties. The swift and safe resolution to this case is a testament to those qualities," Ricciardi said.
